Support Group Meetings
Getting to Know Your Support Group
The Freedom to Live program is built on a genuine support system of compassionate professionals, mentors and peers. Sponsored by Alexian Brothers Advanced Weight Solutions, and led by a licensed clinical psychologist, support groups provide a safe and comfortable environment in which to talk about the changes you'll be going through and share how you feel about your new freedoms. Support groups are also a great place to share your questions, concerns and experiences. You can also learn a great deal from other patients' success stories and challenges.
You'll become familiar with Alexian Brothers support group prior to your surgery. Patients scheduled for surgery are required to attend at least one meeting pre-operatively. We also require post-operative patients to attend and participate as part of their follow-up and recovery program. Family members or other primary support companions are also encouraged to attend, however, due to space issues, please limit the number of support companions to one.
Medical, surgical and nutritional professionals are on-site to offer support and to help address any issues or questions you might have. Groups are organized according to the type of procedure performed and length of time since surgery: Review support group schedules.
